Ajay Devgun and Esha Deol in a scene from ‘Yuva’.Film Review
Ratnam magic missing
This one lacks Mani Ratnam’s flavour of freshness. He spins a tale of three youths to express his optimism about cleaning dirty politics. Shot in Kolkata, ‘Yuva’ is tinged with an anti-Communist complexion. His call to the youth to do their needful is heartening. They can clean up the system if they want to. The message is near-perfect. But the screenplay is not.

Warding off evil spirits through black magic, astrologers and palmists, coercing their disciples for various rituals, or the godmen frequenting the city and its satellite townships are proof of the residents’ growing quest for the unknown.
