Split MCD into four corporations, suggests PHDCCI
New Delhi, May 20
In the light of the Government of NCT of Delhi’s decision to restructure the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) by establishing a number of municipal corporations, the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) today suggested splitting the MCD into four corporations–one each for North, South, East and West Delhi.

A drunk man celebrating the birth of a male child in the family fired a shot from his gun, which killed a girl in Saidpur village of Kakode. The shot was fired during a puja being done for the well-being of the baby boy.

Ghaziabad:
Some 40 industrial units in Ghaziabad and Noida have been issued show cause notices by the Pollution Control Board, Sahibabad. It is learnt that the Board is contemplating sealing a large number of units which have piled up dangerous waste around their premises.

Mr. B.R. Lall, DGP, Haryana inaugurated the newly built police station complex of Dharuhera today. The complex, which was constructed at a cost of Rs 1.7 crore, also comprises residential facilities for police personnel.

The District Congress Committee spokesperson, Ms Kanta Kaushik, alleged that many villages of the district had been facing acute shortage of potable water. A joint team of the Special Operations Group and the Loni police has arrested seven dreaded members of an inter-state gang of criminals after an encounter. The seven were going to attack a doctor’s house for a dacoity.

Five injured in clash between rival groups
Sonepat, May 20
At least five persons, including a woman, were injured in a clash between two rival groups at Khewra village, about 13 km from here, last evening. The clash followed a land dispute. Swords, lathis and other deadly weapons were used freely in the clash.

Seven-yr RI for consensual sex with minor
New Delhi, May 20
A married, 37-year-old man, who had consensual sex with a minor girl in 1998, has been sentenced to seven years’ rigorous imprisonment by a city court holding that the girl was incompetent to give such permission. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on the convict, Bijender.

Devdas, an experiment with form
Vividha - the ensemble is a group of seasoned professionals from fields as diverse as radio, banking and television, news reporting, creative writing, railways and films. Different folks and different strokes, but all bitten by the bug of histrionics. To the delight of Delhiites, together they combined to harmonise their notes and presented Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s classic, Devdas, a play, at the LTG Auditorium here.

T-series has released the music of the film 'Garv'. This eagerly awaited film by Punit Issar, under the banner of Cinevistas Limited Production, has music by the promising duo Sajid-Wajid, while melody king Anu Malik has composed a tune for one song.
