Police firing in Shirdi

Twentysix persons were injured when the police fired on stone-throwing demonstrators protesting demolition of illegal structures in the temple town of Shirdi, near here, the police said.

The trouble began this morning when civic officials in the town, 185 km from here, began clearing roadside shops and residential units on the Ahmednagar-Manmad road, the police said.
