Guard dies in bid to loot ATM
Noida, March 29
Some unidentified criminals killed a security guard in an attempt to loot an ATM with the help of gas cutters early today morning. The unsuccessful loot bid was made on IOB bank extension counter in Kribhco Bhawan in Sector-1.

Inderlok-Rithala Metro to be operational from March 30
New Delhi, March 29
The Inderlok – Rithala Metro train services will be inaugurated and open for commercial operations from Tuesday. With this, the public can avail the Metro services from Shahdara to Rithala in both directions from 12 noon to 10 pm on March 30 and from 6 am to 10 pm daily March 31 onwards.

The Chairman of the Standing Committee in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Mr. Mukesh Goel, today constituted an inquiry committee to find out how the name of a fifth company surfaced for the purpose of toll tax collection. The Standing Committee had allowed only four companies to apply for the toll tax collection contract.

Bansi Lal The well-attended public meeting of the Haryana Vikas Party (HVP) at the local Gaushala ground yesterday highlighted some of the Gurgaon-specific problems, particularly the imbalance in the development process. The public meeting, attended by the HVP supremo, Mr Bansi Lal, highlighted the issue of the imbalance in the growth of old Gurgaon and the new city areas, comprising of HUDA sectors and colonies set up by the private builders.

Assembly poll in Haryana on schedule, says CM

The Assembly elections in Haryana would be held on schedule and not before March next year. This was announced by Mr Om Prakash Chautala, Chief Minister and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) chief, while addressing an election meeting in favour of the party nominee, Mrs Krishna Malik, wife of the Director-General of Police (DGP), Haryana, at Gohana town, 35 km from here, last evening.

Brick kiln workers allege non-payment of wages
Sonepat, March 29
The Lal Jhanda Brick Kilns Mazdoor Union, Haryana, and the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) today expressed grave concern over the non-payment of the wages fixed by the state government to the brick kiln Workers. They alleged that officials of the Labour Department had failed to enforce the labour laws on the brick kilns effectively.

Mulayam to visit Faridabad tomorrow

The Samajwadi Party chief and the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav, will visit the district on March 31. According to the local leaders of the party, Mr Yadav will address a public meeting at the Dasehra grounds at Ballabgarh at about 2 pm.

Defence personnel found dead, wife commits suicide

Jhajjar, March 29
A defence personnel was found dead in mysterious circumstances in his fields in Chhapar village of the district. On hearing the news of his death, his wife committed suicide by consuming poisonous substance at Rohtak. According to sources, Sanjay (25) had come to his village on leave earlier this month and joined his duty on March 15.

Trigger-happy criminal nailed near Grand Hyatt
New Delhi, March 29
The Crime Branch Inter-State Cell today claimed to have apprehended a notorious criminal, Sandeep, alias Amit, along with his cronies after a brief encounter near the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Vasant Kunj where they had gathered for committing some crime on March 26. The sleuths also claimed to have seized two English pistols, one countrymade weapon and seven live cartridges from their possession.

Man held for forging documents to obtain loan

The Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch claimed to have arrested a director of one MM Associates for allegedly obtained a loan of Rs 1.95 crore from the Andhra Bank by forging the signature of one Gurcharan Singh, besides showing his property as collateral security.
