Our Correspondent

Amritsar, March 29
The condition of SGPC President Gurcharan Singh Tohra worsened last night when the doctors attending on him tried to remove his life support system partially at the Escorts Heart and Super-Specialty Institute here.

Senior cardiologist Dr Arun Chopra said here today that Mr Tohra had earlier been maintaining steady improvement, but now his condition was critical again. He added that the decision to shift Mr Tohra to Escorts Hospital New Delhi had been deferred for the time being as they were to continue to monitor his condition.

The team of doctors here had been in regular consultation with Dr Naresh Trehan and Dr T.S. Kler, who had been apprised of Mr Tohra’s cardiac condition.

Dr Chopra pointed out that Mr Tohra had been on a life support system and his blood pressure and pulse had been maintained through drugs after he was admitted to the hospital on March 25. Mr Tohra suffered a massive heart attack immediately after he was brought to the hospital.
