Bathinda, March 11
In a bizarre incident, a student who was taking ten plus two class final examination at the local SSD Senior Secondary School was allegedly stripped by some teachers on exam duty when he refused to facilitate copying to another student, a ward of a VVIP, from his answer-sheet on March 9.

In one of the two examination centres set up in this school where the wards of VVIPs are taking the exam, special subject invigilators were put on duty allegedly to facilitate copying.

Mr Wazir Chand, Controller of Exams, when contacted, said that he was not allowed to enter the examination centres by the centre superintendent. He added that he did not know how the teachers of particular subjects were being put on duty when the exam of their subject was being held. He said he had informed the District Education Officer (Secondary), Mrs Surinder Kataria, of the matter. He pointed out that though parents of the student who was allegedly stripped had lodged a verbal complaint, he was awaiting a written complaint to initiate action.

On the other hand, Mr Ashok Gupta, father of the victim, who has approached the Punjab State Human Rights Commission in the case, said his son was under depression after the incident. He had been finding it difficult to take the remaining exams.

Mr Rajesh Kumar, Principal of the school, when contacted pointed out that it was confirmed that special invigilators of special subjects were being put on duty for the wards of VVIPs, who had been taking ten plus two exams. He said that a lecturer of physics, who was on regular duty in centre number one of the school was put on duty in the centre number two when the physics exam of the student was taken. And when the exam of chemistry was held, a lecturer of chemistry was put on exam duty in the same centre though he was not on regular duty.

Mrs Surinder Kataria, DEO, when contacted, said she was looking into the case.
