Israeli defence consignment for India

Jerusalem, January 27
Israeli defence electronics company, Elbit Systems Limited is to supply India with thermal imaging day/night observation systems for various military and security applications in a deal worth $ 53 million, sources said.

The company said that its wholly owned subsidiary, Elop Electro-Optics Industries Ltd. (El-Op), has received orders from an “unspecified Asian country”, but informed sources here said it is “definitely” India.

The equipment is due to be supplied over a period of 18 months. Joseph Ackerman, President and CEO of Elbit Systems said, “These systems are the fruit of our vast experience in the development of advanced solutions for the Israeli defense forces and other customers worldwide.”

“These latest orders signify our leading role in the growing market of advanced electro-optical systems for defense and homeland security applications, as much as they reflect Elbit Systems’ in-house vertical integration capabilities,” he added. — UNI
