New Delhi, January 24
Rainfall: Rain or snow has been reported at most places in Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal and at many places in Jammu and Kashmir. Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in east Uttar Pradesh, at many places in west Uttar Pradesh, at a few places in Punjab and at isolated places in Haryana and east Rajasthan. Weather was dry in west Rajasthan. The chief amounts of precipitation in cms are: Haryana: Kalka 3 and Chandigarh 1; Himachal Pradesh: Berthin, Soongnala and Sundernagar 3 each, Arki, Bangana, Dhundhi, Kahu, Kasol, Pandoh and Sujanpurtira 2 each and Bhang, Bhuntar, Patsio, Rampurbushahr, Sunibhajji, Shimla and Solan 1 each; Jammu and Kashmir: Banihal 2 and Jammu 1; Punjab: Batala 3 and Nangal 1; east Uttar Pradesh: Gorakhpur 3 and Lucknow and Varanasi City 1 each; West Uttar Pradesh: Sarsawa 1; and Uttaranchal: Dehra Dun, Mukteshwar and Tehri 2 each.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures fell markedly in Punjab and Uttaranchal, fell appreciably in Haryana, fell in west Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh and changed a little elsewhere. Departure: They were below normal in Uttaranchal, markedly above normal in east Uttar Pradesh, above normal in Haryana and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest Temperature in the plains was 3°C recorded at Amritsar (Punjab).

Forecast valid until the morning of January 26: Rain or snow is likely at many places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Rain/thundershowers are likely at a few places in Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in the rest of the region.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of January 26: Partly cloudy sky. Mist/fog tilll forenoon. Minimum temperature will be around 8°C.
