Cop suspended in spat with VIP wards reinstated

The state police has reinstated a former Sarabha Nagar SHO, Inspector Sandeep Wadehra, who was under suspension for more than the past three months following a bitter controversy between him and Congress minister Malkiat Singh Birmi over the alleged misbehaviour of the politician's son with the police official.

The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) has taken exception to the working of the police and bureaucracy in the state with regard to the recent development in the state which saw the shifting of Mr A.P. Pandey, Chief of Vigilance Bureau. The party was confident that the government, led by Capt Amarinder Singh, had no control over the administration.

On a statement of Ms Neelam, a resident of New Sant Nagar, Haibowal Kalan, the Division No 2 police yesterday registered a case under Sections 376, 316, 323, 341, 342, 328 and 506 of the IPC against Sanjay Garg, Darshna Rani and Balraj Garg, residents of Murad Pura.

Pirated VCDs seized, one held
Jagraon, January 3
The local police has seized 382 pirated VCDs and arrested one person in this connection. According to information, Head Constable Baldev Singh got a tip-off that Vijay Kumar of Cheena Video Centre and Baljit Singh Jassal of Vijay Nagar had pirated VCDs in their possession.
