Jind NGO wants to adopt, treat Nikita
Tribune News Service

Jalandhar, November 5
Within hours of highlighting the plight of a two-month HIV-positive baby, Nikita, by The Tribune in its columns today, Apna Ghar, a Jind-based NGO run by Ms Serla Ben, has come forward to adopt and treat the child at its naturopathy centre.

Nikita was found abandoned at Atta village near Goraya on August 10 and was shifted to the local Pushpa Gujral Nari Niketan, run by the family of former Prime Minister, Mr I.K. Gujral. Later, she was detected to be HIV-positive after she was made to undergo tests at a laboratory in Delhi following a request by a family that wanted to adopt her.

Ms Serla Ben rang up this correspondent and expressed her desire to adopt the child and treat her with the help of modern naturopathy at her centre, where she said the girl could be cured in about two months with the help of sun rays, fir treatment involving wrapping in specially woven clothes and bio-ceramics.

“We have treated similar cases and those pertaining to heart and kidney ailments with our specialised treatment. If the Nari Niketan people want to see the results they can leave her here for a week’s time. I can also come to the Nari Niketan and treat her there free of cost. All I want is to save the life of the child. They can also consult their doctors in Delhi regarding my proposal,” she said.

The Director and Chief Executive of the Nari Niketan have welcomed the proposal and said the organisation would take a decision after consulting its Chairman, Mr Naresh Gujral, son of Mr I.K. Gujral.
