BSP to contest 40 seats in Delhi poll

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) today released a list of 40 candidates for the Assembly elections which it would fight with the main aim of defeating the BJP and gaining as many seats as possible. Releasing the list, Delhi Pradesh BSP president Dharmveer Singh Ashok told reporters that all sections of society have been given representation in the list.

Old and frayed yellow sheets that faithfully capture the legacy of past will be part of the historical treasure to be put on display at the Delhi Police museum. More than seven decade old FIR of bombs being hurled inside the Central Assembly by freedom fighter Bhagat Singh and another one recording the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, along with Jawahar Lal Nehru’s personal gun, are among a host of historical items to be exhibited.

CBI raids house of former MCD worker

An anti-corruption team of the CBI has raided the residence of a former employee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Ram Gopal in Raj Nagar and confiscated some vital documents. Ram Gopal, a resident of Sector-I of Raj Nagar, Ghaziabad had been working in the civic body till a few years ago when some corruption charges were levelled against him.

Two-day camp on dengue and blood donation

ESI Corporation organised a two-day Dengue Awareness and Detection Camp as well as Blood Donation Camp near Dr Ambedkarnagar Bus Stop today. The area was selected keeping in mind the large population of poor socio-economic group residing here who are prone to the attacks of dengue and other ailments. Many cases of dengue from this area were reported and treated at ESI Hospital (Okhla).

Health Dept admits to 9 deaths

It is official now. The Health Department, infamous for misguiding the public, is at it again. This time, even as the department was trying to wash its hands of the dengue and Japanese Encephalitis (JE) menace, it has conceded that nine deaths had been reported.

Dempo, Vasco start with a win 
New Delhi, November 2
Goan clubs Dempo and Vasco recorded contrasting victories to garner full points in their opening group encounters in the 116th Durand Cup Football Tournament here today. Dempo thrashed Indian Bank, Chennai, 3-0 in Group B, while Vasco defeated Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Srinagar, 1-0 in Group D of the quarter-final league. Vasco, who finished third in last year’s national football league, seemed out of sorts and even ‘uninterested’ in the proceedings as they scrapped passed the qualifiers with a lone goal margin. The Goan outfit never looked like they had control on the game against an opponent, which also seemed satisfied with defending their castle than going on the attack.

Delphi prevail over GE Capital
New Delhi, November 2
Delphi posted the highest total of the tournament as they surpassed 227 scored by GE Capital a day earlier. They scored 244 runs as Abraham Joseph and Amrit Sareen scored 113 runs in 12.4 overs. Of all the 10 bowlers used by ABN AMRO team, Naveen Dhawan bowled well to take 4 wickets. The writing was on the wall for ABN AMRO team but Manpreet, Vishal and Manjeet scored 40, 39 and 31 runs respectively to reach 160 runs.
