BJP against aid to surrendered ultras
Tribune News Service

Jammu, October 30
The BJP has expressed concern over the proposed move of the Jammu and Kashmir government to throw open the state exchequer to terrorists by offering them a fixed deposit of Rs 3 lakh each and a monthly allowance ranging between Rs 2,500 and Rs 3,000 in case they surrendered.

The BJP spokesman, Prof Hari Om, in a statement here today criticised the proposed policy which aimed at general amnesty to the militants and self-employment opportunities for which bank loans would be arranged by the government.

He said the policy would only further complicate with situation. The scheme was fraught with dangerous ramifications as it had the potential of promoting the Pakistani cause in Kashmir at the cost of hard-earned public money. He said the Centre’s liberal financial aid to the Mufti-led coalition government was not for pampering those who were involved in subversive and anti-national activities.
