Terrorist acts part of bigger gameplan, says Advani

New Delhi, September 14
Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani today said the recent incidents of terrorist violence in the country appeared to be part of a bigger gameplan of militants who should be given a befitting reply.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function to mark ‘Hindi Day’ here, Mr Advani said he would meet Mr Chhagan Bhujbal, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, to discuss the prevailing situation in the state which was rocked by twin blasts on August 25. Mr Bhujbal was here in the Capital today to meet Mr Advani.

Replying to a question about stepped-up violence in Kashmir and the killing of Kuka Parray, a prominent counter-insurgent, the Deputy Prime Minister said, “This has been going on... there is no one small aim. We have to fight it out”.

Earlier speaking at the function on Hindi Day organised by the Rajbhasha Department, Mr Advani said there was need to inculcate pride for Hindi which was essential for the nation’s unity, self-respect and future.

Mr Advani also presented the Indira Gandhi Rajbhasha awards for contributions in the popularisation of Hindi in government departments, public sector undertakings and banks. — TNS
