8 killed in Srinagar blast
Brigadier, Captain among 37 injured
Srinagar, September 6
Eight persons were killed and 37 injured, including six Army personnel, one of them a Brigadier, when an IED planted by suspected militants in a car was detonated at Fruit Mandi here this morning. Several vehicles were also damaged in the explosion aimed at an Army convoy on the bypass road on the outskirts of Srinagar city.

5 holed-up militants killed?
Jammu, September 6
Have five of the seven terrorists been killed in the encounter with the Army at Ghatti in Kathua district? If one goes by the intercepts that the Army has with it, five of the seven ultras have been killed and one injured in the gunbattle which continued for four days. The guns fell silent on the fifth day today.

BSP rebels form new party, to merge

A group of 37-BSP legislators today marched to the office of the Speaker of the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha today and submitted a letter seeking recognition for their group as Loktantrik Bahujan Samaj Party, thus formalising a split in the BSP.
