Tribune Reporters

Amritsar, August 6
The District Education Officer (Secondary) today suspended the drawing teacher, Mr Kuldip Singh, who had allegedly severely beaten up 60 students yesterday.

Mr Daljit Singh Sandhu, District Education Officer, said the teacher of Government Senior Secondary School, Chheharta, had been suspended under the Punjab Civil Services Punishment and Appeals Rule 1970 part II Section 4 (A) as a preliminary action for his unsavoury actions.

A chargesheet would be served on the teacher to seek his explanation, said the DEO. About 60 students of Class VIII had been allegedly beaten, kicked and abused by the teacher for not bringing some geometry box instruments.
