The body of Gp Capt J.S. Kahlon (retd), Commissioner, Civil Aviation, Jammu and Kashmir, who died in a helicopter crash in Ganderbal yesterday, was consigned to the flames here today. The son of Group Captain Kahlon, Mr Sarpreet Singh, lit the pyre.

An abandoned flour mill was gutted in a massive fire in Industrial Area, Phase I, in the wee hours here today. “The flames were so high that they were noticed by people at Mani Majra, Sectors 17, 19 and even 25,” Chief Fire Officer G.S. Bajwa told Chandigarh Tribune.

Only recently, six Indian archers qualified for the Athens Olympics-2004 after their stupendous performance amidst more than 500 archers from 60 countries in the 42nd World Outdoor Target Archery Championship held in New York.

Rs 10 crore sports complex project revived
SAS Nagar, August 6
A multi-facility sports complex will be functional in SAS Nagar by the end of the next year. Stating this, the Punjab Minister of Sports, Mr Jagmohan Kang, today revealed that the sports complex would be built on the land given to the Sports Department by the Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority (PUDA) in Phase IX opposite the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) stadium.

Education Dept to hold trials from August 11

The UT Education Department will hold trials from August 11 to select a city schools team for the National School Games 2003-2004 in the discipline of C.K.
