12 hurt in Jat-Dalit clash
Curfew in Talhan, violence spreads to Jalandhar

Talhan (Jalandhar), June 5
The two month-long tension between Jats and Dalits of this village, 15 km from here, took a violent turn today as armed clashes between members of the two communities resulted in injuries to nearly 12 persons.

The Union Cabinet today approved the decision to include additional castes and communities in the Central list of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) for matters pertaining to reservation in eight states and Union Territories.

Clergy exonerates Badal

Amritsar, June 5
Paving the way for the much-awaited unity between the SAD and the Sarb Hind Shiromani Akali Dal (SHSAD), the Sikh clergy today exonerated Mr Parkash Singh Badal, President, SAD, from the charge of violating ‘maryada’ (Sikh tradition).

IPH Dept ignores water crisis in Dharamsala
No tankers deployed
Dharamsala, June 5
Though Dharamsala, which is the district headquarters of Kangra, is facing an acute water shortage crisis, officials of the Irrigation and Public Health Department refuse to accept that the situation is bad. The district administration also seems to have accepted the version of the IPH officials. This is apparent from the fact that tankers have been deployed in many subdivisions, no such action has been taken at Dharamsala.
