Pilot dies in MiG-21 crash

New Delhi, June 4
An Indian Air Force MiG-21 fighter aircraft crashed shortly after taking off this morning killing the pilot, sources here said.

Flight Lieutenant A. S. Jamwal was killed after the aircraft crashed shortly after taking off from the Uttarlai air base in the western sector.

According to the sources, the aircraft, on a routine sortie, caught fire soon after takeoff and plunged into a field near the airbase in Barmer district, close to the Indo-Pak border.

A court of inquiry has been ordered. UNI
