Pak PM speaks to Vajpayee

New Delhi, April 28
Pakistan Prime Minister Mir Zafurllah Khan Jamali today rang up Prime Minister Atal Behar Vajpayee and asked for resumption of sports links between the two countries, while Mr Vajpayee emphasised that the two estranged neighbours resume economic co-operation, people to people contact and civil aviation links.

According to official sources, Mr Jamali called up Mr Vajpayee this evening and thanked him for his statements made in Srinagar and elsewhere, where Mr Vajpayee extended a hand of friendship to Pakistan.

The conversations assume significance as the two neighbours have exchanged views directly for the first time in several months. Mr Vajpayee and Mr Jamali agreed to discuss the matter further. The telephonic conversation lasted 10 minutes. TNS
