Captain to file counter suit
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, February 7
A day after Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister P.K. Dhumal filed criminal complaints against his Punjab counterpart and two other senior Congress leaders, the Punjab Chief Minister, Capt Amarinder Singh, said today that he would be filing a counter defamation suit in Jalandhar within a day or two to “expose” Mr Dhumal’s claims. Capt Amarinder Singh said Mr Dhumal had filed the complaints to save his face.

“My government and myself cannot be intimidated by such complaints. I would be filing a counter defamation complaint in Jalandhar in a day or two to expose him”, he told reporters here.

He indicated that AICC treasurer Motilal Vora and Congress spokesman Anand Sharma, who have been named in Mr Dhumal’s complaint, would also be moving court.

“They have disclosed the information I provided to them about the properties owned by the Himachal Chief Minister and his close family members in Punjab”, he said, adding that Mr Dhumal might not pursue his complaint after the elections but “we would pursue”.

Displaying copies of the list and details of the properties worth Rs 41.05 crore (market price) owned by Mr Dhumal and his close family members including his two sons, Mr Singh said he stood by the disclosure. “Proofs about his property in Delhi and a place in Himachal Pradesh were being collected,’’ the Chief Minister said.
