Rainfall: Rain or snow has occurred at most places in Uttaranchal and at a few places in Himachal Pradesh. Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Uttar Pradesh, at many places in Haryana and at isolated places in Punjab and east Rajasthan. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of precipitation in cm are: Haryana: New Delhi (Safdarjung) 2 and Ayanagar (Delhi), Chandigarh, Delhi (Ridge), Kalka, Naraingarh, New Delhi (Palam), Rewari and Sonepat 1 each, Himachal Pradesh: Nahan and Rajgarh 1 each, East Rajasthan: Jaipur 1, East Uttar Pradesh: Bahraich, Gorakhpur and Lucknow 2 each and Sultanpur and Varanasi Airport 1 each, West Uttar Pradesh: Bareilly and Moradabad 3 each, Sarsawa 2 and Hindon 1 and Uttaranchal: Pantnagar 6, Mukteshwar 3 and Dehra Dun and Tehri 1 each.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures fell appreciably in Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Rajasthan, fell in east Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere. Departures: These were below normal in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab and normal in the rest of the region.

The lowest temperature in the plains was 2.5°C recorded at Ludhiana (Punjab).

Forecast valid until the morning of January 3: Rain or snow is likely at a few places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places in east Uttar Pradesh. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region.
