Sanjay allowed to go abroad
Mumbai, October 14
A special court today allowed film actor Sanjay Dutt, accused in 1993 bomb blast case, to visit Tanzania, Kenya, Mauritius and South Africa from October 28 to November 11 to promote Hindi film “Kaante”, produced by him. In a related development, Sanjay and 88 other accused were exempted from appearance till November 1. Sanjay has been allowed to go abroad while the rest will have to appear before the designated court on that day. PTI

5 cops killed
Guntur, October 14
Five policemen, including an inspector, were killed when a jeep in which they were travelling was blown up by Naxals of the banned People’s War Group by triggering a landmine blast, near Vemavaram village in the district this evening, police sources said. PTI

40 feared drowned
Ranchi, October 14
Two boats carrying 40 persons capsized midstream in Rukha Dam, about 20 km from here, this afternoon, official sources said. The body of a minor had been recovered so far, the sources said. The authorities have launched an operation to trace the missing passengers. UNI
