HUDA ‘harassment’
makes him take off clothes
Ambala, October 3 Mr Naresh Bansal, a resident of Sector 7, Urban Estate, Ambala City this morning went to HUDA office to get certain paperwork done. He was apparently told that there were some outstanding dues, including a fine over the non-submission of completion certificate. Upset over the “harassment”, Mr Bansal took off his clothes and his vest. He then demanded that he would not put on his clothes till the time the harassment against him was stopped by a HUDA employee. Mr Bansal claimed that the application for completion certificate had been submitted a couple of year’s ago by his father. After his father’s death, when the name was to be changed, he was informed that the enhancement amount and a fine was due. While Mr Bandal said he was not averse to paying the enhancement amount, he had strong objection to the fine since his father had applied for the completion certificate long time back. After a lot of coaxing by locals, Mr Bansal relented and put on his clothes. A HUDA official, however, was critical to Mr Bansal’s act and said decency in public must be maintained at all times. “If there is a problem, it can always be sorted out across the table. This is definitely not the way to express one’s problem”, he said.

The condition of injured persons is stated to be serious and they have been referred to Medical College Hospital at Rohtak for treatment, the police said. According to reports, rivalry between functionaries of two truck unions is said to be the cause behind the crime. It is learnt that several truck operators here formed a new truck union and started functioning after opening their office. The truck operators of the old union alleged that the functionaries of the new union misappropriated the funds of the old union and took away with them the record of the old union. This reportedly led to a dispute between the functionaries of both unions and some supporters of one of the unions resorted to indiscriminate firing last night resulting in casualties. A case has been registered under various sections of the IPC and under the Arms Act, but no arrest has been made so far. |
