10-day police remand for R.K. Sharma
New Delhi, September 28
Senior IPS officer of Haryana cadre Ravi Kant Sharma, prime suspect in journalist Shivani Bhatnagar murder case who surrendered in an Ambala court yesterday after eluding the police for nearly two months, was today remanded in 10-day police custody by a Delhi court.

Punjab is in a tizzy. This time over the mid-day meal scheme for primary school children. This scheme is to be implemented all over the country. The November 28, 2001 order of the Supreme Court says so. 

Financial crisis in Punjab: CM

Even as the state government has called an all-party meeting on October 1 to work out the mode of agitation to be launched against the Centre for its discrimination against Punjab in the matter of minimum support price and procurement of paddy, the Chief Minister, Capt Amarinder Singh, today said as the state had been facing a financial crisis, it could default in meeting its financial liabilities, including payment in lieu of paddy to be procured by state agencies.
