Seven policemen killed in ambush
Guwahati, July 18
At least seven policemen were killed in an ambush by suspected Dima Halao Daoga militants near Halflong in Assam today. Official sources here said the militants ambushed the sixth Assam police Battalion vehicle at Halflong Tiniali this morning, killing five battalion jawans, an unarmed branch constable and the driver. Minister quits
Patna, July 18
Bihar Animal Husbandry Minister Ramashraya Shahni today resigned following conviction in a murder case. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ramchandra Purvey said in the Assembly that Chief Minister Rabri Devi had forwarded Mr Shahni’s resignation to Governor Vinod Chandra Pandey. UNI
