Two killed, four hurt in Delhi fire
New Delhi, May 16
At least two persons were killed and four injured, including three firemen, when a fire swept through a congested electronic goods market in the Chandni Chowk area of the walled city this afternoon destroying property worth crores of rupees. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sanjay Beniwal said the fire broke out at around 11.15 am at a video shop in the Old Lajpat Rai market and soon engulfed the adjoining shops. He said Piyush (25), Pappu (26) and Gopal (15), who were working in the basement of the video shop, got trapped and sustained severe injuries. The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) officials rushed them to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narain hospital where Piyush and Pappu were declared brought dead.
