Ayodhya: BJP stands by NDA agenda

Lucknow, February 2
The BJP today stood by the NDA agenda on the Ayodhya issue favouring a solution through a mutual dialogue among the parties concerned or a speedy court settlement acceptable to all.

The election manifesto released by the BJP for the UP Assembly elections promises to bring a POTO-type law in the state and take steps to identify the illegal Bangladeshi migrants and for their deportation.

The party also pledged to bring the Chief Minister under the purview of the Lok Ayukta.

State BJP chief Kalraj Misra said Ayodhya remained a cultural issue connected with the beliefs of the people but added the party would strive for resolving the issue through a mutual dialogue or through the court verdict acceptable to all.

The other salient features of the manifesto include stern action against those giving shelter to the antinational elements, providing employment to 1.5 lakh youths in the next three years and bringing transparency in the functioning of the government.

The manifesto also promises making declaration of income and property mandatory for all elected representatives after nine days of their election and total transparency in the government decisions pertaining to the involvement of public money.

In a counter-offensive, UP Chief Minister Rajnath Singh dared the Samajwadi Party and the Congress to make their stands clear with regard to their promises of rebuilding the mosque at the disputed site in Ayodhya.

The people of the country, specially the Muslims and also the BJP, had a right to know what their plans were for the disputed land in Ayodhya as they had promised to rebuild the mosque soon after the demolition of the disputed structure, he said on the occasion of the release of the party’s manifesto here.
