Irked, Bhatia courts arrest, may quit SAD
Ludhiana, February 2
The estranged vice-president of the Shiromani Akali Dal, Mr Amarjeet Singh Bhatia today hinted that he might resign from the party after his 'humiliation' by the district administration and inaction on the part of the party president. Talking to reporters before courting arrest, he said he would take a final decision on the issue after taking his supporters and other party workers into confidence.

Paswan advocates right to work

The services of more than five lakh workers in coal mines were regularised within a month after his assuming charge of the ministry, said Mr Ram Bilas Paswan, National President of the Lok Jan Shakti Party, while addressing his first election rally in the state at the Dussehra Ground here today in support of Mr Harbhajan Singh Attapuri, party candidate from Amloh (reserved) constituency.

31 take part in beauty contest
Ludhiana, February 2
Herbal Glow, a Delhi-based company organised “Herbal Glow Beauty Queen Punjab” contest here today at Guru Nanak Bhavan. Over 30 participants from cities like Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Moga and Hoshiarpur took part in the contest.

Sukriti, Iknoor, Kuldeep win painting contest
Ludhiana, February 2
Students from over 32 schools participated in a painting contest organised by a Hindi daily at Nehru Rose Garden here today. Students were divided into three groups according to their classes. Students of Classes II to IV were grouped in sub-junior category, Class V to VII were grouped in junior category and those from Classes IX to XI participated in senior category.
