Kolkata, September 10
Several persons were trapped under the rubble after the front portion of a cinema hall in central Kolkata collapsed during a heavy thundershower in the city this evening. The entire front verandah of the Society cinema hall suddenly caved in during the downpour, which was accompanied by lightning and thunder. A large number of persons, who had taken shelter under the verandah, were trapped under the rubble. The exact number of those trapped or the severity of their injuries was not yet known. Fire brigade sources said 11 fire engines had been pressed into service. UNI
