PUDA extension fee illegal: HC
Chandigarh, July 11
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has declared the levy of non-construction extension fee by the Punjab Urban Development Authority as illegal and has quashed the demand notice for period extending from January 1997 to December 1999 received by the petitioner. The orders were pronounced by the bench comprising Mr Justice G.S. Singhvi and Mr Justice Nirmal Singh.

UT JE suspended
Chandigarh, July 11
A junior engineer of the UT Power Department, Mr Amrik Singh, was suspended for alleged negligence of duty. A line man of the department, Mr Balbir Singh, was electrocuted on July 3 and the JE was supposed to ensure that the high-tension power lines had been switched off before the lineman started work.

30 neem saplings planted

The city police celebrated Van Mahotsav in the CAP complex (New Police Lines Complex) in Dhanas village this evening. As many as 30 neem saplings were planted in the complex by IG, B.S. These hostels are the oldest ones in the Panjab University. Mata Gujari Hall and Laxmi Bai hall were built when the university had just shifted started functioning in Chandigarh.

Revised admission dates for LL.B, LL.M

The Panjab University Law Department has announced the revised dates for admissions to the LL.B and LL.M first year courses, Prof B.K. Bansal, Head of the department, said the first list of the selected candidates will be put up on the notice board on July 13.

Science seats available in seven schools

There are only seven schools left with science seats including three girls school, namely GMSSS in Sector 18, GMSSS in Sector 21, GGSSS in Sector 20, as a part of the ongoing centralised admissions in government schools here today. Other four co-education schools are GMSSS in 22, GMSSS in Sector 23, GSSS in Sector 27 and GMSSS in Sector 46 where science seats are still available.
