Thunderstorms likely in Punjab
New Delhi, May 12
Heat wave to severe heat wave conditions are prevailing in Haryana (including Delhi), Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and west Rajasthan. Heat wave conditions are also prevailing in parts of east Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh.

Heat wave to severe heat wave conditions are prevailing in Haryana (including Delhi), Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and west Rajasthan. Heat wave conditions are also prevailing in parts of east Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh. These have abated from east Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal and are likely to abate from most parts of the region during the next two days.

Rainfall: Weather was dry over the region.

Temperature: Past 24 hours change: maximum temperatures rose in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, fell markedly in east Uttar Pradesh, fell in west Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal and changed little elsewhere.

Departures: These were appreciably below normal in east Uttar Pradesh, above normal in Uttaranchal and the remaining parts of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Rajasthan and normal in the rest of the region. The highest temperature in the region was 48.3°C recorded at Sriganganagar (Rajasthan).

Forecast valid until the morning of 14th May: Rain or thundershowers are likely at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, east Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal. Duststorms or thunderstorms are likely at isolated places in Haryana, Punjab, north Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh. Weather will be mainly dry in south Rajasthan.
