SC stays arrest of Laloo, others
Our Legal Correspondent

New Delhi, May 12
The Supreme Court today stayed the arrest warrants issued by a Ranchi special court against former Bihar Chief Ministers, Laloo Prasad Yadav and Jagannath Mishra, along with 68 others accused in a case related to the multi-crore fodder scam.

A Division Bench comprising Mr Justice K.T. Thomas and Mr Justice R.P. Sethi passed the interim stay order on a special leave petition filed by the CBI.

The judges issued notices to the parties concerned on the petition which was filed against an order of the Patna High Court directing that all fodder scam related cases would remain with the Patna special court.

PATNA (UNI): Encouraged by the Supreme Court verdict staying the non-bailable arrest warrant issued against him by a special court, Mr Laloo Yadav requested the apex court to examine the genuineness of all cases related to the fodder scam.

A jubilant Mr Laloo Yadav, who was earlier facing arrest warrant in connection with the case RC 47(A) issued by the designated CBI court at Ranchi, told UNI here on Saturday that there was actually no case against him and reiterated that he had been implicated.

Requesting the Supreme Court to examine the cases, he said if the apex court found him guilty, he was ready to face punishment.

Mr Laloo Yadav alleged that his name was dragged in the cases of the fodder scam on false charges. He charged the CBI with misleading the judiciary, including the apex court, time and again on the grounds of transfer and monitoring of the fodder scam cases.

“The politically motivated Central Government has hatched a conspiracy in connivance with the CBI to harm me,” he alleged. “All the hue and cry is being made by the Centre to divert attention from the tehelka.com expose and its failures on all fronts.”
