BKU men to burn their crops today

The issue relating to the alleged harassing of farmers by private traders on account of purchasing their barley, sarson and gram crop on less rates less than the minimum support price (MSP) in the markets took a new turn today when activists of Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta) decided to burn their crop in front of the office of Deputy Commissioner tomorrow to lodge their protest.

No sugar distribution through PDS

The government has stopped the distribution of sugar through the public distribution system (PDS) from April 1. This decision of the government has come as a shock to the poor families and they will have to purchase the sugar at higher prices from the open market.

Probe ordered into wall demolition

Mr Jaspal Singh, Deputy Commissioner, has ordered a magisterial probe into the demolition of the wall of a graveyard belonging to the Christian community located at Jogi Nagar in the trans-Railway area of this town. The wall was allegedly demolished by the railway authorities.
