Strike hits life in Kashmir

Srinagar, April 19
The All-Party Hurriyat Conference (APHC)-sponsored general strike today paralysed life throughout the Kashmir valley, including the summer capital, Srinagar.

The dawn-to-dusk strike was called by the Hurriyat to protest against what it called “growing human rights violations” allegedly committed by the security forces, particularly the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Shops and business establishments were closed and vehicles stayed off the roads in response to the strike which also badly affected work in all government and semi-government offices. UNI
