N-shipment alarms Pak
Islamabad, February 20
Pakistan today said any Russian shipment of nuclear fuel to India for its Tarapur reactor would further widen existing imbalance in South Asia. Briefing mediapersons at the Foreign Office today, spokesman Riaz Muhammad Khan said this fuel would be used for the growth of Indian nuclear capability which was outside the purview of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He said the Russian shipment of fuel suggested a “discriminatory practice” by the individual nuclear state, which was in contrast to their policy towards Islamabad. UNI

German Minister arrives today
New Delhi, February 20
German Defence Minister Rudolf Scharping will arrive here tomorrow on a week-long visit to India during which he will have talks with several Indian leaders, including Defence Minister George Fernandes and other high-ranking politicians. He will also meet National Security Adviser Brajesh Mishra. A spokesman of the German Embassy here said today that the visit from February 21-26 was part of a high-level interaction between the two governments. UNI
