Bhakti Barve dies in mishap
ALIBAG, FEB 12 —
Popular Marathi actress Bhakti Barve Inamdar was killed when her car dashed against an electric pole near here early today, the police said. She was returning to Mumbai from Wai in Satara district after performing a stage show when the mishap occurred at 6 a.m. on the new Mumbai-Pune expressway, the police said. The driver of the car also died on the spot, the police added. Another occupant of the car, Mr Dayanand Manjrekar, who was injured, was admitted to a private hospital at Panvel. Bhakti Barve started her career as a news reader on television and shot into fame after her memorable performance in Marathi drama “Ti Phul Rani”, written by P.L. Deshpande. She acted in many TV serials and dramas, besides Hindi film “Jaane bhi do Yaaron”, and was the wife of character actor late Shafi Inamdar.

STF repulses attack on camp
SRINAGAR, FEB 12 —
At least one militant was killed when the Special Task Force (STF) opened fire repulsing an attack on their camp in Baramullah district of Jammu and Kashmir tonight, a spokesman of the state government said. He said a group of militants opened fire on the STF camp at Safapura, 25km from Srinagar, at 10.00 p.m. The STF men retaliated, killing one militant and forcing the others to flee, the spokesman added. — PTI

Tremors in Haryana
NEW DELHI, Feb 12 —
An earthquake of slight intensity rocked parts of Haryana this evening. The Indian Meteorological Department said the tremors in Rohtak and adjoining areas registered 2.2 on the Richter Scale and had its epicentre at 28.9 degree latitude and 76.6 degree longitude. — UNI
