EC bars Bihar from presenting Budget
NEW DELHI, Jan 10 — The Election Commission has directed the RJD government in Bihar, which goes to polls next month, to refrain from presenting this year’s Budget in the state Assembly saying it would violate the model code of conduct.

BAHAWALPUR (Pakistan), Jan 10 — A Pakistani Muslim cleric freed last month by India in return for hostages on a hijacked Indian Airlines plane has vowed to recruit half a million men to fight Indian rule in Kashmir.

HCs ban oil officers’ strike
MUMBAI, Jan 10 — The Mumbai High Court today restrained till January 14 the Bharat Petroleum corporation management staff union and the refinery staff union from proceeding on strike.The order was delivered by Mr Justice D.K. Deshmukh on a application filed by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd challenging the decision of the officers’ associations to proceed on strike.
