Two arrested for murder
The Patiala police have arrested two persons for murdering 23-year-old Karan, who was brutally assaulted and stabbed multiple times after being dragged off a running motorcycle in the Ablowal market area, on Friday. The victim was stabbed to death on Friday evening and a CCTV footage of the incident had gone viral on social media.
While senior officials were tight-lipped on the developments, sources say that the Civil Lines police station team nabbed two of the accused separately, before they could flee the city.
“We have arrested Amaneet, resident of Gaushala Road and Yuvraj of Kahlwan village. We will interrogate them to ascertain the reason behind the gruesome murder in the busy market,” a senior police official said. “It seems the accused knew the victim and they had been exchanging some posts on social media, which later turned into threats. However, we are still probing the matter,” he told the tribune.
The victim, a resident of Babu Singh Colony, succumbed to his injuries due to excessive blood loss at Rajindra Hospital on Friday evening. The police had booked the accused identified as Ansh of Passiana village, Amaneet of Gaushala road, and Yuvraj of Kahlwan village, along with two unidentified aides. The police said raids were on to apprehend the other accused.
