Congress suspends Maheshinder Singh over Moga rally
Chandigarh, January 27
Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Saturday suspended party leaders Maheshinder Singh and his son Dharampal Singh from the party’s primary membership.
The suspension comes as a signal to former PCC chief Navjot Sidhu who had been holding public rallies without keeping Warring in the loop.
Sidhu had attended the rally organised by Maheshinder Singh in Moga on January 21. The party had given him and his son show-cause notice for organising the rally without permission from the PCC.
The notice was issued after Congress’ Moga in-charge Malvika Sood lodged a complaint against the duo for not informing the local leaders about the rally. After the show-cause notice was issued, Sidhu had come out in support of Maheshinder and his son and had posted on X, “Will stand by the Nihalsinghwala family come what may. Third-generation Congress family – the roots of the grand old party. There cannot be any fruit without the root!”
