Moga: 1,800 kg poppy husk seized, 11 booked

The Moga police seized 90 bags (20 kg each) of poppy husk, weighing 1,800 kg, from a godown at Badduwal bye-pass in Dharamkot town of Moga, SSP Surinderjit Singh Mand said today. The police have also impounded a truck and a Mahindra Xylo from the godown.

The SSP said 11 persons, including Pippal Singh of Daulewala village, the kingpin operating from the jail, had been booked. Pippal is serving 30-year sentence under the NDPS Act. None of the accused had been arrested from the spot, the SSP said, adding that investigations were on and all identified drug smugglers would be arrested soon.

Meanwhile, an FIR under Sections 15, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against all of them at the Dharamkot police station. — TNS
