Scion of erstwhile Jaipur royal family Diya Kumari and her husband Narendra Singh have decided to end their marriage after 21 years.

After filing a divorce petition in the family court no. 1 here, a joint statement of the couple, who had a love-cum-arranged marriage, said, "We jointly state that it is an extremely personal matter for us and hence we do not wish to comment further except, that we have jointly and mutually decided to part amicably."

The petition is filed under Section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act. The couple had been living separately for a few months, following which both of them decided to approach the court for a mutual separation.

City Palace's PR spokesman said the case was filed recently in the family court and the reason of divorce petition would not be disclosed at this moment.

The couple married in 1997 after dating for close to a decade. Diya Kumari, who represented Sawai Madhopur assembly segment, was not given ticket by the BJP in the recent elections.
