Nihang, accomplices attack man in New Satguru Nagar

A Nihang Sikh with the help of his two accomplices brutally attacked a person with a sword and hockey stick at New Satguru Nagar here. When the sword hit the victim’s head, his turban was tossed and he fell on the ground. As people started gathering, the assailants fled the scene. The injured was taken to the Civil Hospital for treatment where he got several stitches on his head.
As per information, the Nihang, Arjun Singh, attacked an elderly person on his head with a sword in the New Satguru Nagar area on the Lohara road on Saturday night. The victim, who was also bleeding profusely, was brought to the Civil Hospital. Later, he lodged a complaint at the Kanganwal police post.
The complainant, Angrez Singh, a resident of the New Satguru Nagar area, said he works as a labourer. About two weeks ago, a Nihang staying in the same area, had borrowed Rs 500 from him and now, he refused to return the amount. Whenever he asks him for money, the latter would threaten him.
On Saturday night when he was returning from work, the Nihang and his two accomplices were waiting for him. When he reached near his house, the assailants attacked him.
People of the area gathered at the scene due to the noise, after which the attackers fled the scene. The police launched a probe in the matter.
