Under the two-day “Sarkar Tuhade Dwar” programme, 850 persons turned up at CM Bhagwant Mann’s residence.

DCs from Majha and Doaba and secretaries of various departments, including the local government, sewerage board, water supply, finance, PSPCL and PWD, were present to address people’s grievances.

Earlier this morning, the CM held meetings with eight DCs – Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, SBS Nagar, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar and Tarn Taran — along with four Jalandhar MLAs, including Kartarpur MLA and Local Bodies Minister Balkar Singh, CP, Jalandhar, Swapan Sharma, the Chairman of the electricity board, Secretary of the PWD and the Chief Principal Secretary to the CM.

Speaking on whether Jalandhar will get a special package after the bypoll win, the CM said, “The completion of work on various projects is no less than the special package. There is a problem of streets and drains. Even though it’s an MC issue, we will resolve these.”

When questioned on the MC poll, the CM said, “There’s not much to say on the issue yet. The poll code was just over. The first priority is to complete the pending work.”

Jalandhar DC Himanshu Aggarwal said, “Many people came from Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Nakodar, Tarn Taran, Amritsar, Kapurthala and Nawanshahr to meet the CM and he met everyone. They had grievances on various civic or other issues which were patiently heard and marked to respective department secretaries who were present. The CM has asked the departments to expedite the works.”
