Himachal Pradesh wins 15 medals, ends up 2nd in Khelo India Winter Games

The Himachal contingent secured the second place in the country by winning 15 medals in the fourth edition of the Khelo India Winter Games (KIWG) held in Gulmarg (Jammu and Kashmir) from February 21 to 25. The state players won five gold, four silver and six bronze medals. The team won three medals on the second day, five on the third day, six on the fourth day and one medal on the fifth and final day, giving Himachal the second position in the country.
Himachal Pradesh Winter Games Association president Ludar Thakur said that all players had made the state proud by performing brilliantly on the ski slopes of Gulmarg. Aanchal Thakur won gold while Diya Thakur won bronze in the Women’s Slalom Alpine Skiing. Aanchal secured another gold while Tanuja Thakur won silver and Promila won bronze in the Women’s Giant Slalom Alpine category.
Preeti Thakur won gold, Deeksha Thakur silver while Deepika Thakur secured bronze in the Women’s Snowboarding Giant Slalom.
Sakshi Thakur, Jyoti Thakur, Shabnam and Natasha won gold in the Ski Mountaineering Relay Race in the women’s category. Preeti Thakur won gold, Prakriti Thakur silver while Deepika Thakur won bronze in the Women’s Snowboarding Slalom. Pranav Thakur won silver in the Men’s Giant Slalom Alpine category while Kamaljeet won bronze in the parallel slalom.
