Anil Vij inspects Ambala Cantonment bus stand, orders suspension of superintendent

Haryana transport minister Anil Vij on Monday inspected the Ambala Cantonment bus stand and pulled up the officials for poor sanitation and encroachment by shop keepers.

He also issued directions to suspend the bus stand superintendent for poor conditions and sought a complete record of the people running various shops at the bus stand.

Vij, who reached here in a Haryana Roadways bus, inquired about the facilities. He also visited various shops being run at the bus stand. The minister pulled up the roadways officials after seeing the encroachment by the shopkeepers.

“This is public money, and the public demands accountability. Irregularities will not be tolerated.

“The government has given transport department to me so I came here to see the situation so that before doing anything I know what was happening. There is lack of space for passengers because the shopkeepers have encroached the area in convenience with the officials. Appropriate action will be taken. I will also get the quality of food checked. The toilet was in poor situation. I have been told that the sewerage was not working. I have suspended the bus stand superintendent,” Vij said.

Kuldeep Singh, General Manager, Haryana Roadways, Karnal Depot, said that the minister has directed to register a case against a vendor for food supply.

“Violation has been found at the canteen and action would be taken against the concerned,” he said.
