A day before the first ‘Parkash Purb’ of Guru Granth Sahib, the Golden Temple complex has been decorated with aromatic flowers from India and abroad by the devouts.

SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami, congratulating the Sikh Sangat on the eve of the first Parkash Gurpurab, said the Gurbani inspired humanity to connect with the creator and lead a noble life. It gives a message of togetherness and harmony to the entire humanity. Gurbani’s ideology is a source of spiritual and social uplift, he said.

He said the fifth Guru, Arjan Dev, in 1604 edited Sri Guru Granth Sahib and gifted humanity with the universal holy book, which has a unique place in the history of the world. He appealed to the Sikh community to connect with ‘Bani and Bana’.

The first Parkash Gurpurab of Sri Guru Granth Sahib is being celebrated with devotion by the SGPC and other Sikh organisations. Various events will be held in this regard. SGPC secretary Partap Singh said a Nagar Kirtan will be taken out, decorated with Khalsai tradition, from Gurdwara Ramsar Sahib to the Golden Temple tomorrow (September 4). He said the SGPC president, five Sikh high priests, members of the Shiromani Committee and other prominent personalities will be present.

Meanwhile, in a religious programme at Gurdwara Manji Sahib Diwan Hall, Ragi, Dhadi, Kavishar jathas and Sikh preachers will connect people with Gurbani and history tomorrow. The entire Golden Temple complex has been decorated with flowers.
