As Punjab goes to play, block-level competitions held across Amritsar
Under ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Dian’, several competitions — including football, kabaddi (national style and circle style), kho-kho, athletics, volleyball smashing and shooting — were organised at the block-level tournament here on Tuesday.
In Ajnala block, around 300 players participated in the games, in which Sri Guru Arjan Dev Sports Club Kamalpura bagged the first positions in under-17 (boys) kabaddi circle style competition and in under-17 (girls) kabaddi national style competition. The team of Sacred Heart Convent School secured the first position in under-17 (boys) kho-kho competition.
At Shaheed Mewa Singh Stadium Lopoke, Jasraur High School won the first place in kabaddi national style, Sharanjit Kaur bagged the first place, Kiranjit Kaur second and Mohpreet Kaur secured the third place in under-17 800m race. Rajpreet Kaur won the first place, Mehkpreet Kaur won second and Khushpreet Kaur secured the third place in the 1,500-m race. In shot put, Navdeep Kaur won the first place, Sarvanpreet Kaur second and Anupreet Kaur third.
In Municipal Corporation block, Khalsa Football Club team secured the first place, Khalsa College Public School second and Fatahpur the third place in under-17 (boys) competition.
In Harsha Chhina block, Baba Fateh Singh won the first place and Guru Kalgidhar School Bhalla village second in kho-kho, Guru Kalgidhar School Bhalla village got the first place and Baba Fateh Singh secured the second position in kho-kho (girls) competition.
