Khedan Vatan Punjab Dean that was started with an aim to inculcate interest for sports among the Punjabis are being held in various blocks of Jalandhar district.

In powerlifting U-17 girls’ (72-kg category), Avleen Kaur of Jalandhar city won gold by lifting 245 kg. In 21-40 years 57-kg category, Hardeep Kaur of the city won gold with 195 kg, while in 63-kg category, Renu Chauhan of Dallewal won gold by lifting 295 kg, and in 72-kg category, Chitra Malhotra won gold by lifting 250 kg.

In under-17 boys’ 53-kg weight category, Sumit Kumar of Government Senior Secondary School, Bhargo Camp, won gold by lifting 225 kg, Lovis of the same school won silver by lifting 147.5 kg, and Akash, another student of the same school won bronze by lifting 145 kg.

In athletics 100m final (40-50 age group), Ankur Arora of Adampur won gold by completing the race in 13.80 seconds, Regwinder Bhatia of Kukar Pind won silver in 13.94 seconds, and Badal of Nakodar won bronze in 14.44 seconds.

In 100m women (40-50 age category), Kiran Bala of Phillaur won gold by completing the race in 17.45 seconds, Gurbinder Kaur of Mehatpur won silver and Gurpreet Kaur of Bhogpur won bronze in 18.34 seconds.

In 200m (40-50 men category), Regminder Bhatia of Kukar Pind won gold.

In shot put (40-50 age men category), Baljinder Singh of Shahkot won gold, Gurinder Kumar of Adampur won silver with Surinder Kumar of Jalandhar East.

In shot put (women 40-50 age category), Kiran Bala of Jalandhar won gold and Baljit Kaur silver.

SGGSKC Mahilpur, Govt College Hoshiarpur enter soccer final

Hoshiarpur: In the district-level competitions of Khedan Vatan Punjab Dean today MLA Urmur Jasveer Singh Raja Gill inaugurated the weightlifting competitions. He said, “The sports competitions have infused new enthusiasm among youth and the hidden talent among the players has come to the fore. The state government is making serious efforts to eliminate social evils by reconnecting the youth with sports fields.”

District Sports Officer Gurpreet Singh said today in the under-21 football competition, SGGS Khalsa Collegiate School, Mahilpur, and Government College, Hoshiarpur, won their respective match. On September 20, final match will be played between Government College, Hoshiarpur, and SGGSKC School, Mahilpur, in U-21 boys’ football competition in Mahilpur. SAS Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Paldi, and Sant Baba Atam Singh Club, Bohan, will compete for the third and fourth place.

Kritika and Tania finished first, Mannat and Saloni second and Nishu and Dia third in the under-21 girls’ badminton event, while Monu and Nikhil finished first, Ranjan and Shivam second and Sameer and Surya Pratap Singh third in the boys’ doubles event.

In the under-21 girls’ singles event, Kritika stood first, Nishu second and Shivani third, while in the boys’ event, Nikhil Mahant stood first, Ranjan second and Ribhav third. /OC
