Bhandranwale's portrait in gurdwara:
A huge portrait of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale was unveiled by chief of Damdami Taksal and president of the Sant Samaj Harnam Singh Dhuma at Gurdwara Nauvi Patshahi in Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar on Friday. Bhindranwala's son Ishar Singh was also present on the occasion. President of the gurdwara committee Jagjit Singh Gaba said he would soon set up a gallery dedicated to the Sikh martyrs on the upper floor. The gurdwara had recently taken out a march wherein leaders of the Sikh organisations had worn T-shirts bearing picture of Bhindranwale.

Lighting up the dark:
Diwali was celebrated with gaiety at Apple Tree Preschool, BRS Nagar. Students came dressed in traditional attire. They participated in various events. Children made Diwali cards. They decorated diyas and candles. The school was decorated with flowers and diyas. The students made rangolis.

Ropar
Two killed in mishap:
Two youths were killed when an unidentified vehicle hit an ambulance on the Ropar-Nangal road near Jidwari village on Thursday. The victims, Urvinder Singh of Chandigarh and Vishal Salaria of Pathankot, were travelling in the ambulance.
