Spring Dale student wins tennis tourney: Daksh Chhabra, a student of Spring Dale Senior School, bagged a gold medal in the 60th Punjab School State Tennis Tournament organised in the city by the Punjab Lawn Tennis Association in the Under-17 boys’ category. Eighteen teams from schools from all over Punjab participated. Congratulating the student, school principal Rajiv Kumar Sharma said, “Daksh is a promising tennis player from Spring Dales who has exhibited his prowess as a tennis player.” 150 students donate blood:

Girl dies mysteriously: A 19-year-old girl has reportedly died under "mysterious circumstances" here. The victim, a resident of Barnala city, was a science student at Akal Degree College, Mastuana Sahib. The postmortem of the body of the deceased was conducted at a local civil hospital here on Monday. Shops of ghee sellers raided :
The health authorities seized more than 350 litres of desi ghee, suspected to be adulterated, from the shops of two wholesale dealers at Moga on Tuesday. Samples were collected and sent for laboratory tests. A chemical compound (propylene glycol) was reportedly mixed in edible oils, particularly palm oil, to give it a look of desi ghee.

Two minors loot bank: Two girls aged around 10 allegedly looted Rs 5.4 lakh from Punjab National Bank, Mosque Chowk branch, on Tuesday. The police said the girls ran away with paper mill employee Anmol Kumar's money. The man had come to deposit the cash in the bank. The police said the girls gave the cash to two of their relatives waiting outside the bank. The police nabbed the girls, but the other two accused escaped. Patiala

The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, Patiala, has directed Columbia Asia Hospital, Patiala, to refund the excess amount charged from a patient along with interest, besides paying Rs 50,000 for causing mental agony to the patient.

Six injured in clash: Six persons, including a woman, sustained serious injuries in a clash between two groups in nearby Mauli village on Monday night. The injured, Sandeep Lal, Ramesh Lal, Joginder Ram, Jaswinder Kaur, Paramjit and Ram Labhaya, were admitted to the local Civil Hospital. Dalit tortured: Daljit Singh (30), a member of the Dalit community, was allegedly tortured brutally in Bhullar village, 8 km from here, by a few residents of the same village. They believed him to be a thief. The accused include Balbir Singh Beera, Narinder Singh, Rashpal Singh, Sewa Singh and Devinder Singh. The victim alleged he was assaulted on his private parts. A case has been registered. No arrests have been made so far. Man held with 1 kg heroin:
Pardeep Singh was arrested with 1 kg of heroin at a naka in Thathi Sohal village, 30 km from here, on Monday evening. The consignment was worth Rs 5 crore.
